Military Retirees Must Choose A New Insurance Carrier for 2019.

As you know on December 31, 2018 Delta Dental of California will no longer be the dental insurance carrier for the Military Retirees.

Dental coverage for military retirees and family members will be merged with the Federal Employee Dental and Vision Insurance Program.  This year there are thirteen options to choose from, all varying in premiums and coverages.

You have between November 12, 2018 – December 10, 2018 to make your selection.   You may do this online OPM.GOV or by calling 1-877-888-3337.

If you would like to see the dental plan choices for 2019, please go to

https://www.opm.gov , or FEDVIP.   You can put in your zip code, and then you can view and compare the available plans.  We participate with all the plans except the two Dominion HMO plans.

After reviewing and speaking to several of the insurance companies, our practice is recommending the United Concordia Dental, PPO High.  The reason why we are suggesting this plan is as it is the most similar to the plan you know have, in monthly premium, and benefits.   The advantage is that it has no deductible, no Missing Tooth Clause, no waiting periods and no annual maximum benefit. Two other recommended plans are the GEHA, PPO High, and Aetna Dental, PPO, High.

Please remember to notify us in 2019 of your change.  Many of the available plans use an identification number rather than your social security number and you will have to provide us with that information.

If we can be of any further assistance to you please call us at 757-631-9700.

We appreciate you as patients, hoping to make the transition as easy as possible.
